As from 1st January 2010 we have to comply with new legislation which requires slaughterhouses to request, receive and act upon food chain information in addition to pigs that we have been doing for some time, all cattle, sheep and goats consigned for slaughter for human consumption.
This means you as producers are required to sign a declaration stating that all animals you send to market for slaughter are free from disease, any withdrawal period from medication and are fit for human consumption. We must have these declarations signed as we have to provide this information to all abattoirs.
We have amended our Thursday Primestock Cattle entry form to incorporate this declaration. The new forms must be signed and accompany all stock to market on Thursdays dedicated slaughter sale.
